Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is coming soon – it’s the official kick-off for the 2016 holiday season. Are you feeling festive yet?
Here is a schedule of upcoming events and holidays festivals around the Kansas City to help put you in the holiday mood.
Zona Rosa kicks off the season with a lighting ceremony on November 19, at 4:00 p.m. The 50-foot tree in Town Square will be at the center of the celebration. Come down and welcome the arrival of Santa Claus and the holiday Fairy Princess. See the live reindeer, and enjoy musical and dance performances.
On Thanksgiving night, November 24, Country Club Plaza will be lit up with miles of holiday lights. Every store, dome, and tower will be decked out for this annual KCP&L Plaza Lights spectacle.
If you’re feeling Grinch-y, head to the City Market any Saturday from November 24 to December 22. Whoville Holidays gives you a chance to wander into the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss. Have your photo taken with The Grinch, try your hand at holiday kid crafts, and enter the Cindy Lou Who lookalike contest.
At 100 feet tall, the Mayor’s Christmas Tree is one of the tallest in the country. Mayor Sly James will officially turn on the towering tree’s lights on Friday, November 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the Crown Center Ice Terrace. This tree is at the heart of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which raises money to help the city’s less fortunate.
We’re in the season of giving, so please remember to share the spirit!
