After Replacing Your Windows, Make a Greenhouse

Table of Contents

If you’re upgrading your windows by replacing them with vinyl windows in Kansas City (a good idea, by the way), then don’t just throw out your old windows. There’s a good chance that one of the reasons you installed new vinyl windows was to make your home more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, so why not find a way to re-purpose those old windows? One way that you can do this is by making a greenhouse out of them!

There are a number of ways that you can use your old windows to create a greenhouse. A simple way would be to use a table as a base, then attach four windows together as the walls. Use two more windows to create a roof. You can build a simple wooden frame to help hold all the windows in place. If you wanted to make a larger greenhouse, then you can increase the number of windows that you use. For example, if you want a greenhouse with two separate levels, stack another four windows on top of the four windows that make up your walls.

If you have taller windows, then you could even make a small greenhouse that you can actually walk into. This, of course, will take a little bit more effort to build since more materials will be required – not to mention a bit more work. Another option would be to make a mini-greenhouse out of three uniform windows and some scrap lumber material, such as from an old storm window. A greenhouse of this size can be placed almost anywhere, from your deck to your porch or just up against the exterior of your house.
