Now that we are in the midst of the holiday season, odds are you’re thinking about putting up some holiday decorations outside your home if you haven’t already. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be a little bit tricky to do so depending on the construction of your home. The following are a few holiday decorating tips to help make things easier:
If you’re looking to hang up some garlands or other decorations on the exterior of your house, you may run into a few issues if you have brick or concrete walls. You can’t exactly hammer a nail into these types of surfaces. You’ll want to pick up some Tapcon screws and a matching drill bit in order to create holes in these walls. Just make sure you drill in the mortar joints and not into the brick – trying to drill the brick can crack it. Once you take down your decorations, it will be much easier to repair if you’ve drilled into the mortar – you can simply pick up a tube of mortar repair and squirt some into the hole you’ve drilled.
